The purpose of my blog is to document our family’s food journey.  We will explore old family traditions while creating new ones.  I want to help preserve our traditions and culture for my children and their children.  I want to teach myself to do the things my grandmother and her mother did for their family:  cooking from scratch, growing food; harvesting food; and processing food.  Along the way, I hope to capture nutrition education as it is my formal training and education.  If I can help inspire a family to move to scratch cooking or make one little change in their life, than my blog has multiple purposes and I welcome the education both for me and my readers.

As a mother and Dietitian, I am working hard to do right by my family in the world of food and nutrition.  We eat local when available and try to avoid over-processed foods as much as possible. With that being said, I do buy mangos, pineapple, avocado, banana and other foods that are not native to my current hometown.  I also have processed foods in my home which I am trying to eliminate.  I still cook with canned cream soup and I do have cereal and pasta.  If you see contradictions, it is because I am in the learning process and growing with my blog.

The Science

I will continue to produce peer reviewed posts based on current scientific information and evidence.  I may also provide alternative nutritional methods for informational purposes only and within my professional liability limits. You may or may not agree but I firmly believe it is up to an individual to decide what is best for themselves and their family.

Give-Aways/Reviews

If I do a review or give-away, it is because I want to do it.  My review will be because I absolutely love the product and purpose behind it and the company.  I will not endorse a product I would not use myself.

Opinions/Debates

I respect the value of other opinions and welcome them onto my blog and even “show case” them for my readers to decide what is best for them but I will not debate what I do for my family.  I realize I am a Dietitian and a level of professional responsibility is an obligation for my blog and readers.  I will treat all views opposing mine with respect and understanding.
