To be a good mother, I need time with my friends and time away from my family.  I like to call it “wine without the whine time“.  This post is about a night blessed with wonderful company, great food and good wine.

This particular night was spent at The Brown Barn Cafe in Shavertown, PA.  It is a small rustic venue full of pizzazz, unique flavors, character and surprise.  The Cafe specializes in home-style entrees from around the world and decadent desserts by AH! Some Chocolates.  When available they use the freshest local ingredients.  I highly recommend their chocolate soup!

The Brown Barn Cafe was a wonderful place for us to unwind.  We spent the evening eating, drinking, talking, laughing and all the other things that come with girls!

The menu at the Brown Barn Cafe changes each week based on the local ingredients and the chef’s inspiration.  We each ordered off the Prix Fixe Dinner ($25/person) which included a starter, entree, side and dessert but split everything!  For a current menu, please click here.

If you are looking for a unique place to take your significant other for a quite romantic dinner, this is a hidden treasure in Northeastern PA.  It is worth the visit but do not forget your wine or beer as it is BYOB.  I would also call for ahead for a reservation as the venue is small but quaint.

If you do not live in Northeastern, Pa but are looking for a place to eat local ingredients visit Local Harvest for more information.

I did not receive anything for this blog post.  I simply love their food and hope you will too.  We are fortunate to have them in our community.
