Are you sick of the hype around butter spreads or margarine spreads? Many deem margarine a plastic polymer and other people reticule butter. I personally eat butter from my local dairy farmer and embrace the wonderful flavor and creamy taste! I do this because the ingredients are simple: cream. If you look at a commercial spread, they can have a long list of ingredients most people cannot pronnounce.
If you are a person who loves your spreads but do not trust them and will not eat butter, I have a solution for you: a homemade butter spread with lower saturated fat. It is so easy and you can trust the ingredients!
Ingredients:
-
Stick of butter or 1/2 cup of butter
-
1/2 cup of oil (canola or olive)
Directions:
-
Mix until well blended.
-
Store in the refrigerator in an air tight container.
-
Olive oil will give a pale green tint with a unique flavor.
-
Canola oil will be yellow with a more neutral flavor.
-
Jazz up the spread with cinnamon or rosemary & roasted garlic.
Have fun and give as a wonderful healthy gift with an eco-friendly flare this Holiday season!

This sounds delish and really easy to make!
Great tip thankyou, loving the new website xx
Wow, awesome recipe! Thanks for sharing, I’ll try it at home =D
Sounds so delicious. Can u also use this to bake a cake?
I never used it to bake with…..I use either of the following for baking: substitute equal parts of oil for either plain nonfat yogurt, mashed banana, pumpkin puree, or applesauce. Sometimes I do a combo of the previously mentioned. If you use margarine for baking, I am sure this would work as well but I would go with the canola. I hope this helps!
Interesting! I might give that a try. I love butter, but DH prefers margarine.
