How to Make Granola Bars at Home

Granola is a traditional snack for the US as well as a breakfast dish containing the rolled oats, nuts, and honey and sometimes rice which is usually baked to crisp. When baking the mixture is stirred to achieve a crumbly texture similar to breakfast cereals. Sometimes they add dried fruit such as raisins or dates. Granola tastes good with yogurt, honey, strawberries, bananas and milk and other types of cereal. The product is also often used as a topping for different types of cakes and desserts. Granola is often formed into granola bars that are very useful. You can prepare granola bars at home. Its simple ingredients turn into a useful, delicious and sweet meal that gives you energy and strength.


1 1/3 cup raw pecans, almonds and/or pumpkin seeds, roughly chopped

1 3/4 cup gluten free rolled oats

1 cup gluten free oat flour

1 cup coconut chips

1 egg lightly beaten

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

3/4 cup packed light brown sugar (or granulated coconut palm sugar)

6 tablespoons (mix of honey, pure maple syrup and/or molasses)

8 ounces mini chocolate chips, small dried fruit

8 tablespoons unsalted butter or virgin coconut oil, melted and cooled


Preheat the oven to 250C degrees.

In a large bowl combine certified gluten free old-fashioned rolled oats, processed by about half in a food processor, flour, brown sugar, salt, ground cinnamon. Whisk everything. Add nuts, chocolate chips and coconut chips, dried fruit and mix.

In a separate bowl, combine some melted butter, honey, egg, vanilla and mix this substance. Then combine the wet and dry ingredients. Stir it with a big spoon till even. Place the mixture on parchment paper in the pan, press it firmly. The layer should not be less than 2 cm. if it is thinner, it will crumble. Send the pan into the oven and bake for about 25 minutes till it gets brown. Turn off the oven and remain the granola for some time in it. After baking, let the pan cool for 10-15 minutes and then place it in the freezer for about 30-40 minutes. Remove the pan from the freezer, peel back the paper. Cut into rectangular bars with a knife. The energy bars are ready! You can store them in the fridge for up to a week or the freezer for longer.
